At St Peter's College in West Yorkshire, a group of older teenagers are tormenting and bullying David on the school playground. One of them threatened to stab him with a knife if he reported them to the headteacher, the fearsome Mr Parker.

The torment and bullying had persisted for so long that it caused David to withdraw into himself, leaving him feeling trapped and contemplating taking his life.

One summer night, he sat up in bed, gazing at the galaxy, moon and stars through his bedroom window, lost in deep thoughts. A shiny star beamed directly at him, causing him to be transported to a fantasy world where friendships flourished, including arguments among students at school settled without conflict or fear of knife-related violence.
